In my AS media coursework, the opening that I filmed was shot in a single location which limited the skill set displayed in the piece. The plot could have been adapted in multiple ways to allow for more creativity, for example, there could have been a cutaway shot giving an insight into Russel's background life - although I achieved this using a non-diegetic voicemail from the characters' friends and family. When considering my preliminary task, which also only used one location, I could have improved by using an array of different camera shots / angles which would have improved the continuity of the piece.
The mise en scene in my opening did not strongly represent the character and setting - in my A2 trailer I would like to focus on the clothing and makeup and conform to audience stereotypes which as a result of would convey certain characters differently and this would lead towards a strongly 'believable' trailer. In my preliminary task, I used school clothing which was contrapuntal to the narrative and performance and did not improve the continuity of the film.
The cinematography in my AS coursework consisted of simple and straightforward camera angles and shots such as pan shots, mid shots, close up shots and a worm's-eye-view shot from the bottom of the stairs in the very last shot. With A2, I would like to push this further and shoot some crane and aerial shots and rely more on the camera angle and position to tell the audience about a situation (rather than relying on the narrative - as this is a trailer).
Finally, I want to create my own soundtrack for the trailer, since I used sound clips that I found online. Creating my own sound (using Garageband or a similar platform and if done correctly), will help the audience understand what is happening without having to look at the narrative - for example, I can create my own ambient sound for each location that I shoot in.
